Here at Ancient Harvest, we frequently place an emphasis on clean eating and delicious, nutritious food – but we know that living well involves so much more than what you put into your body. The outside needs TLC as well.
Take care of yourself and your surroundings with these eco-friendly recipes for DIY beauty and cleaning products. They’re quick, easy and budget-friendly to make – and they also make wonderful eco-friendly gifts. Additionally, just like the mouthwatering recipes on our website, these DIY projects are all gluten-free.
Coconut Oil and Coffee Hand and Body Scrub, Cupcakes and Crinoline
There are so many DIY body scrub recipes out there, but this one is by far one of our favorites. It features only two ingredients (yes, they’re in the title – and, chances are, they’re also in your pantry) and takes only a few short minutes to make, but the results are as luxurious (and fragrant) as any you would find in a specialty beauty store. Bonus: Cupcakes and Crinoline also offers a wonderful recipe for Natural Homemade Deodorant.
DIY Makeup Removing Oil, Your Beauty Blog
Store-bought makeup remover can be expensive and full of chemicals – and neither of these are things we want to deal with after a long day. This DIY version features a combination of nourishing oils as well as vitamin E and optional essential oil for a sweet scent, making it a lovely alternative.
DIY Natural Face Mask, Posh Beauty Blog
For the ultimate pampering experience at home, treat your face to this simple combination of cosmetic clay and apple cider vinegar (which is naturally antibacterial.) Other eco-friendly skincare recipes included on this blog: DIY Makeup Remover Wipes and Natural Exfoliator.
Homemade Facial Cleanser, Don’t Waste the Crumbs (pictured)
Involving a saucepan and cheese grater, this facial cleanser DIY definitely feels like a recipe – but we promise that it’s an easy one to follow. The only ingredients are a bar of soap and filtered water, and the results are a beautifully rich and soothing face wash.
DIY Cleaning Kit with Homemade Cleaners, Jordan’s Onion
While the recipes above take care of your skin, this incredible list (complete with adorable carrying case and printable labels) will clean pretty much everything else. We especially love the lemon and rosemary-scented Furniture Spray and the easy Soft Scrub of baking soda, dish soap and vinegar. Whip up this variety of super-simple formulas and you’ll have what you need to get a head-start on this year’s spring cleaning – in the most eco-friendly and cost-effective way.
