3 Stress-Fighting Foods to Try Today

Stress is something we all deal with, regardless of how good you are at staying balanced in your routine, but did you know that there are a few foods you can eat to help reduce the effects of stress on the body? That’s right, and a few items on the list may already be in your kitchen. So, whether you steam, saute or simmer, these vibrant veggies are here to help you find your zen.

3 Stress-Fighting Foods

  1. Cauliflower is rich in vitamin C, a natural immune-booster that’s stored in the adrenal glands which control stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. When the body is stressed, it burns through more vitamin C, so replenishing with cauliflower recipes is deliciously beneficial.
  2. Spinach, and all dark leafy greens, contain a wide variety of nutrients that support the body, like magnesium which is a natural relaxant. It’s also packed with vitamin B, which gives the body extra energy to power through the day. Try a protein-packed spinach and kale salad for lunch (pictured above)!
  3. Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which help fight the inflammation caused by stress in the body! DHA, one of the omega-3 fatty acids, is especially important for supporting the brain, while vitamin B12 helps boost energy levels. Plus, it’s high in protein which is essential for the body to function properly! Try this Citrus Salmon with Quinoa for a delicious dinner.
