The Case for More Plants – 3 Reasons to Eat Plant-Based

The evidence is mounting higher and higher that diets with more veggies and plant-based protein – like the 25g you’ll find in every serving of Ancient Harvest POW! Pasta – is not only delicious, it’s also very beneficial for you.  Here are some of the benefits in recent news that are making us want to put our best plant-made food forward.

A plant-heavy diet can help decrease in heart disease

This article relates the findings in a recent study that shows small, simple life changes can lead to a significant decrease in the chance of getting heart disease, even if you’re genetically predisposed to it. One of the four primary small changes? Eating MORE fruits, nuts, veggies, whole grains, fish and dairy products, and LESS refined grains, processed meats, unprocessed red meats, sugary beverages, trans fats and sodium.

You’ll increase your intake of antioxidants and fiber

When you start eating more plant-based foods, you’ll automatically consume more antioxidants from foods like berries, pecans, beans and even cilantro. Beans and lentils, avocado and oatmeal are great sources of fiber, along with Ancient Harvest POW! Pasta with up to 7g of fiber per serving.

Eating more plants is good for the environment

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recently declared vegetarian diets as not only good for you, but good for the plant, too. Because it takes far less land, water and fertilizer to produce things like veggies and legumes over meat, these plant-based ingredients have smaller carbon footprint.
