If you’ve never had quinoa in drink form, you are truly missing out. The gluten-free ancient grain is a wonderful addition to your morning smoothie, as it will help to thicken the consistency and boost nutritional (especially protein) content. Still not so sure? Give one of these delicious, convenient and creative quinoa smoothies a try:

Chamomile, Strawberry & Quinoa Smoothie, Apron and Sneakers

Full of sweet, floral flavor and pretty pastel color, this smoothie just screams “spring!” We love the addition of chamomile tea (and, of course, the dried flowers for garnish) and we recommend using fresh strawberries if possible.

Spiced Peaches & Cream Quinoa Smoothies, Poor Girl Eats Well

With summer and peach season right around the corner, this recipe is getting moved to the top of our list. The combination of fresh, sweet fruit, creamy Greek yogurt, cooked quinoa and a dash of cinnamon provides the perfect start to any busy day.

Green Apple, Pumpkin and Quinoa Smoothie, Choosing Raw

This intriguing blend of crisp green apple and creamy, comforting pumpkin is a wonderful way to welcome the new spring season. Pitted dates add a hint of sweetness, and a crunchy granola topping adds some great texture.

Chocolate Quinoa Smoothie, Cook For Your Life

Looking to satisfy a chocolate craving? This smoothie is for you. It may taste like an indulgent dessert – but packed with nutritious cooked quinoa and almond milk, we think it also makes a totally acceptable breakfast.

If you’ve mastered the basics and are looking to step up your smoothie game, we definitely recommend trying this one. Instead of cooked quinoa to blend into the drink, it calls for popped quinoa – which is actually stirred into the smoothie (a smooth and delicious combination of young coconut, kale, apple, banana, orange and spices) at the end.

Make-Ahead Mango Almond Quinoa Smoothie, Full Belly Sisters

Who doesn’t love seeing the words “make-ahead” in a recipe’s title? As easy as it gets, this smoothie can be blended up to three days in advance – and the nutritious, delicious combination of coconut milk, Greek yogurt, mango, almond butter, cinnamon and vanilla will have you excited for morning.
