Whether you’re entirely plant-powered or an omnivore, you’ll find that gluten-free ancient grains can be worked into every meal – and there are so many reasons to try!

Along with being tasty and nutritious, pantry staples like quinoa and beans are incredibly versatile – and they’re great for providing a plant-based boost of energizing protein.

In honor of it being World Vegan Month, we’re celebrating the satisfying, nourishing power of plants with these gluten-free, protein-packed recipes that everyone may enjoy.

Pasta with White Bean and Vegetable Ragout, Fit and Frugal for Ancient Harvest

Colorful, seasonal and easy to adapt, this vegan pasta dish (use veggie broth and skip the optional parmesan) is great for cleaning out the fridge and pantry. To double up on the plant-based protein, serve this hearty ragout over our Red Lentil & Quinoa Supergrain Rotelle.

Lentil & Quinoa Chili, Ambitious Kitchen

Who doesn’t love a nice bowl of warm, comforting chili this time of year? This one uses green lentils, quinoa and two types of beans to pack in a serious amount of plant-based protein and other nutrients; plenty of peppers and spices, meanwhile, kick up the flavor.

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato and Black Bean Soup, Fit and Frugal for Ancient Harvest

Another cold-weather favorite, black bean soup gets a superfood makeover with the help of seasonal sweet potatoes and Ancient Harvest Quinoa. Spices like smoked paprika, chili powder and garlic add tons of flavor, while a spoonful of fresh lime juice brightens everything up.

Quinoa & Black Bean Bowl with Blood Orange Sriracha Vinaigrette, Eating Bird Food

The combination of quinoa, black beans and seasonal produce (in this case, kale, sweet potato and avocado) is always a winner in our book – and this protein-packed, plant-based bowl is no exception. But what really makes this dish special is the accompanying vinaigrette. It’s sweet, spicy, pretty, and seriously delicious.

Vegan Italian Shepherd’s Pie, Fork & Beans

Another traditional meat dish-turned-vegan delight, this Shepherd’s Pie foregoes the animal products for protein-packed green lentils and fresh vegetables. We love that the crust is made from ready-made polenta (see all of our varieties here) for maximum ease and convenience on a busy weeknight.
